Bulk Powder Containerisation Planning

Sodium bicarbonate containerisation planning in Shanghai

An anonymised example of how AHY turns FIBC cargo, liner requirements, equipment options, QC controls and port handover into one defined Shanghai-side programme.

Project Brief

From FIBCs to a 20GP bulk liner

The project involved sodium bicarbonate powder arriving in approximately 1.0-1.25 MT FIBCs and a planning target of approximately 26 MT in a lined 20GP container. AHY's work focused on the Shanghai operating design, responsibility boundaries and evidence required for a repeatable programme.

The customer identity, commercial terms, suppliers and internal cost data are intentionally omitted. The project remains subject to final engineering, site matching and first-campaign validation.

Operating Controls

Define the evidence chain before loading starts

The programme was structured around stop-work gates and traceable records rather than an unsupported promise of speed or zero dust.

01

Inbound condition baseline

Record bag count, packaging condition, visible leakage, lifting-loop condition and weight documentation at receipt.

02

Dedicated clean zone

Clean and isolate the transfer area, remove sharp objects and control unrelated cargo and personnel.

03

Empty-container acceptance

Check dryness, odour, contamination, water ingress, damage, doors and container identification before liner installation.

04

Controlled transfer

Match the transfer concept to the FIBC discharge, liner inlet, air displacement, dust-control and site geometry.

05

Weight & closure control

Track bags and estimated cargo weight, verify the liner closure and define the formal VGM handoff.

06

QC & exception records

Retain container, seal, timing, photo, pause, spillage and handover records for the campaign review.

Latest Engineering Direction

Vertical gravity filling with dual-channel dust control

The latest concept positions a 20GP container vertically for gravity filling. A customised liner connects to a dual-channel loading head: the inner path feeds product while the outer path removes displaced air and dust.

This configuration is a project concept. Final dimensions, airflow, interfaces, controls, equipment manufacture and performance require supplier engineering and on-site validation.

  1. 01

    Install liner

Fit and inspect the approved liner.

  2. 02

    Position container

Tilt the 20GP for vertical filling.

  3. 03

    Connect interface

    Seal the dual-channel loading head.

  4. 04

    Fill and extract air

Feed product while controlling displaced air and dust.

What This Demonstrates

AHY acts as the Shanghai-side control point

The value is not a single piece of equipment. It is the integration of warehouse readiness, liner and equipment interfaces, operating controls, evidence, local transport and port handover into a scope an overseas customer or forwarder can review.
